What's in the name? Well my first name is Skyla, but Sky is my preference. My married name is Camera, so at the HIGH possibility(most certainty) of sounding ironic by including that in my photography business, I decided to leave it out. As far as salty, I'll leave that up to you to decide. I do love the ocean air(Who doesn't). ANYWAY, here's a very short version of my story:
I was raised in Idaho but after high school, headed to the best coast to go to culinary school in Oregon. Pastry Cheffin' is cool but I felt like I needed something more in my life, a change of scenery. A few years later I joined the Military to have the best job in the world- Coast Guard Aviation. I've been stationed in New Jersey, Alaska, North Carolina and finally California. After being stationed here for a couple years I met my husband(LOML) 🥰 in 2018 and decided to put down some roots in the Sacramento area. We bought our first home in Jan 2021 and are so happy to be homeowners(the honey-do list never ends) Hopefully soon we will have some tiny feet running around but until then, we spend our nights & weekends force-snuggling our two black cats (little boy & little girl).
I just had a wedding of my own in 2020 & after going through the wedding planning process, I have become really intrigued by the wedding industry in general. Weddings are fun and beautiful and emotional and so many things. It's been a couple years since then & what we have left of our own amazing day is a wedding dress all boxed up from the cleaners in a spare closet & a (photo)gallery of all our memories. Everyone always said the day would go by fast, but you never realize the honesty in that until you experience it for yourself. I would invest in my wedding photos again & again if I had it to do all over. They let us to go back and relive that day together every time we open our photo book. I know exactly how important the big day is & I would be so happy to be able to give those memories to you.
When I was in high school, a family friend taught me how to make wedding cakes. When the time came to pick a college to go to, I picked culinary school. After 2 years, I graduated as a certified pastry chef & culinarian. I competed as Oregon State Junior culinary team's pastry chef in Las Vegas NV.
Most of my family lives in Idaho, so I take a trip or two up there every year. My number one priority after planning travel is to book a private pool at one of the local springs. Nothing beats relaxing in the hot water & cold air.
DIY is so satisfying to my soul! Anything from woodwork, electrical(sometimes), sewing, automotive maintenance- I love the satisfaction of finishing work myself & thank god for YouTube because anyone can truly do anything they set their mind to. (Also I love helping people with their projects so if you have a Pinterest DIY board, let's do it!
